Bethesda Magazine – Sweetgreen Opens at Pike & Rose

Fast-casual Sweetgreen opened at Pike & Rose on Monday, bringing its made-from-scratch salads and grain bowls to the North Bethesda neighborhood center.

The restaurant at 11580 Old Georgetown Road is the 24th location in the Washington region and the third in Montgomery County, joining others in Bethesda and Silver Spring.

The Bethesda location at 4831 Bethesda Ave. was the third Sweetgreen to open, co-founder Nic Jammet said.

“We’ve been drawn to the Bethesda community from the beginning, and Pike & Rose was the perfect place to expand our Bethesda presence even more,” Jammet said in a statement. “Between weekly farmers markets, family friendly festivals and seasonal events, Pike & Rose center provides awesome entertainment for Bethesda residents.”

Sweetgreen offers a variety of bowls with chicken, fish or a mix of vegetables, along with salads, such as Hummus Tahina and Guacamole Greens. Most items on the menu are between $9 and $12.

The restaurant has several different teas and Spindrift sparkling water.

Sweetgreen stresses healthy eating by working closely with nearby businesses for the freshest products.

“When guests walk into a Sweetgreen, we want it to feel like their Sweetgreen, which is why we partner with local vendors,” Jammet said. “We are on a mission to inspire healthier communities by connecting them to real food – and we are able to accomplish this by collaborating with our community, allowing us to source locally wherever possible.”

Jammet said the company is focusing on its three locations in the county before considering further expansion.
